How-nán Rudnoplu (/how/ /nə˞n/ [sore] [funeral]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Slïrddáms Principality of the Cochian City-state.

The name How-nán Rudnoplu is derived from the Gnollish language, as How-nán Rudnoplu was founded by Rust Mite Swarms vyim Roxlendfilf, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

How-nán Rudnoplu has a yearly average temperature of 6°C (42°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cold 5°C (41°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 7°C (44°F). How-nán Rudnoplu receives an average of 205 cm/y (80 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. How-nán Rudnoplu covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2752 m (9028 ft) above sea level.

Overview

How-nán Rudnoplu was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1260, by Rust Mite Swarms vyim Roxlendfilf. The establishment of How-nán Rudnoplu was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding How-nán Rudnoplu's construction back out of the project. Rust Mite Swarms vyim Roxlendfilf pushed on reguardles, and How-nán Rudnoplu was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

How-nán Rudnoplu was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and How-nán Rudnoplu is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

How-nán Rudnoplu is buildings are arranged arround a network of premissive cobblestone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. The town's robustly designed timber walls have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

How-nán Rudnoplu is a bustling hive of activity. Everyone moves at nothing short of a jog, each convocation is a mile a minute, and there’s dedicated lanes for riding through town in the center of each street. The locals all appear to be not merely occupied, but in a true hurry for everything from drinking a pint of ale to their daily work.

Civic Infrastructure

How-nán Rudnoplu has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

How-nán Rudnoplu has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within How-nán Rudnoplu. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for How-nán Rudnoplu's parks.

How-nán Rudnoplu has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within How-nán Rudnoplu.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain How-nán Rudnoplu's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

How-nán Rudnoplu possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. How-nán Rudnoplu's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

How-nán Rudnoplu's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for How-nán Rudnoplu's natural decorations nor waterways.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

How-nán Rudnoplu has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

How-nán Rudnoplu's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

In How-nán Rudnoplu rain occurs in reverse with water pooling up from the earth then falling into the skies to from clouds, this unsettles every visitor that sees it.

How-nán Rudnoplu's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves line dance to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 3 via mimery.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, How-nán Rudnoplu was attacked by savage tribes living nearby How-nán Rudnoplu. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is How-nán Rudnoplu lost 192 people, 123 livestock, and 48 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 53, when members of How-nán Rudnoplu's militia enacted an operation to scout a specific location for information about the enemy. The operation was complicated by the enemy forces had far more numbers than estimated. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in victory for How-nán Rudnoplu's forces. The war is remembered in legend by How-nán Rudnoplu's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
